C. Lucy R. Whitehead

Biography

C. Lucy R. Whitehead (b. 1991) is a painter whose work explores the fragile relationship between the physical and material self. A recent MFA graduate from the Royal College of Art, she constructs fragmented body-landscapes that oscillate between figuration and abstraction.

Through blushing, stretching, and swelling forms, Whitehead distills the human body into a raw, untethered essence—devoid of discernible identity or gender. Her fluid, anthropomorphic structures straddle the line between the sensual and the grotesque, the familiar and the absurd—teetering on the edge of plausibility, like a warped reflection caught in bath taps.
