Biography

Pía Ortuño is a Costa Rican artist living and working in London. Her practice engages with materiality and tradition, drawing from classical techniques in marble and bronze to explore themes of transformation and permanence.

She graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Costa Rica (2019) before moving to Pietrasanta, Italy, where she studied ancient sculptural techniques and apprenticed under Jiménez Deredia in his Carrara studio. She later worked at the Fonderia Artistica Mariani (2020). In 2021, she co-founded Sala Salon, an artist-led space, and in 2022, she completed her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art.
